Which is the greater sin, fornication or abandoning the prayer? |
Question: Allaah has forbidden us from commiting illegal sexual intercourse just as He has prohibited us from abandoning the prayer, so which of the two sins is greater than the other? |
Answer: Abandoning the prayer is the greatest sin over the one who commits illegal sexual intercourse. That is because abandoning the prayer is Kufr Akbar (major disbelief) that expels one from Islaam. As for the one who commits adultery, then this is considered from the major sins that does not make one a disbeliever unless that individual says it is permissible to do this act, but the legislated punishment is obligatory (to be established upon him) when the matter is raised to the Muslim ruler.

Didn't think of like that , but it's so true, ma' sha' Allah! But, in the end, a sin is still a sin, and may Allah protect us from the sharri of the shaytan! Amin!
ReplyDeleteNaam, I agree. These are questions people ask though. Aameen to the dua akhi.
ReplyDeletebarak Allahu feeki anisa.
ReplyDelete@ alhalal farms your statement "in the end a sin is a sin" masha Allah Allah teaches us that it is different levels to sin, na'am. akbar (great), asghar(minor), n hidden, na'am. would anyone think that riy'aa would be a sin. just showing off to be seen of man? or that just what the heart intends? Allah teaches these things for a reason n each one has it's own level n stage. so na'am a sin is a sin, but each sin has it's own level n circumstances, masha Allah. so na'am ameen, may Allah tabarak wa ta'ala protect us from , committing sins n may He continue to give us the knowledge we need in order to obstain from it.ameen

wa'amin, ummasad.. ya'akht... I know what you mean. ma sha' Allah... What I was stating (was my intention at least), is that one should not commit a sin and think that its ok becoz there are greater sins.. ppl actually do that... saying "well, its not as bad as...." understand? as you state in your du'a ....that Allah protect us from committng sins (any sin, major, minor, whatever) 'Amin!
ReplyDeletewa feeki barakAllaah.
ReplyDeleteAameen to the duas.
na'am masha Allah @alhalal. sometimes i state things n i am also taliking to my ownself, ya know. like when i first learned about the levels of kufr, n sin, mash Allah. the part on hidden sins is the ones we never think about. you know actions are based on intentions n should be only for sake of Allah. even with things like wearing the islamic hijab. n one never really thinks of these matters. r like eemaan consiste of statement of the tongue, believe n ACTIONS of the heart, n actions of the limbs. so when we forget about out hearts intentions, we can lead to sin, n not only that kufr! may Allah protect us all from that n keep our intentions pure n only for the sake of HIM THE MOST HIGH N EXALTED, ameen. that is why in this religion we have to study, study, study, n seek knowledge day n night, n put into practice that which we have learned, masha Allah tabarak Allah
ReplyDelete'Amin... like I heard a shaikh/student of knowledge said "No matter how much I learn and learn, I am still just another ignorant person who needs to learn more and more" (not his exact words, but more or less)
