The Means to Establish Yourself in this Deen (9 points):
1. Spending in the way of Allaah (spending for Allaah from your wealth).
2. Fulfilling the Commandments from Allaah and leaving off the prohibitions.
3. Contemplating over the Qur’an.
*added note: meaning to contemplate over the meaning of the Qur'an, understanding what you are reading/reciting and contemplating over it.
4. Benefiting from the stories of the Prophets and Messengers and taking them as examples.
*added note: One of the scholars were asked, “What book is the best to read regarding the Prophets and the Messengers?”, he replied, “The Qur’an.”
5. Loving Allaah and His Messenger.
*added note: This is an obligation on the Muslim, for loving Allaah is obedience to Him. The more obedient you are, the greater the love for Him.
6. Loving what Allaah loves and Hating what Allaah hates.
7. To believe (having Eemaan) and having righteous deeds.
*added note: There are three(3) characteristics of the people who has tasted the sweetness of Eemaan:
1. Allaah and His Messenger are more beloved to them than anything.
2. They love a person for the Sake of Allaah.
3. They hate to apostate (going back to disbelief) as they hate to be thrown into the hellfire.
8. To be encouraging with truthfulness and patience.
9. To remember Allaah (to be in remembrance of Allaah).
This came from a talk that our brother Abu Yusuf Khaleefah gave on Paltalk on 2/2/10 from a weekly class on “Rules Pertaining to the Masjid”.
*If there are any mistakes that I have made in relaying this portion of the talk in text form please forgive me.
May Allaah accept our intentions as good and our efforts in pleasing Him alone, Ameen.
As salaamu alaikum,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this wa jazakallaahu khair. I do love reading about the Prophets and messengers in the Quran directly from Allaah's words. Dh and I was just saying the other day how there are more than enough stories in the quran to share with our children in Islam about them.
wa alaikum salaam wa rahmatullaah, aameen wa jazak.
ReplyDeleteNa'am, as he was giving the talk, here I go saying "The Sealed Nectar?"...lol. Not to slight that book because it is excellent to me but Maa shaa Allaah the Qur'an is better and "direct" as you said.
Alhamdulillaah, I'm glad you have benefit from this as I have big sis (smiles).
As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa baraakatuhu.
